Dr. Aliye Karabulut-IIgu is the director of the Office of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support. She has a PhD in Education from Iowa State University. Dr. Karabulut-IIgu manages administration of direct and indirect measures of curricular and student outcomes including surveys, course evaluations, and other college-wide assessments, and faculty development initiatives.

Mr. Brodie Willard serves as an instructional technology specialist, joining the team in 2025. He is responsible for developing and facilitating workshops and seminars on instructional technology and effective teaching. He also assists faculty with development, instructional design, and assessment of their courses. He earned his Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Washington in 2021 and has worked in academia and the private sector.

Ms. Melody Gustafson serves as the Program Assistant for the Office of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support, joining the group in 2009. She offers many years’ experience in data collection, data management, and communication skills as well as a broad base of knowledge in support operations. She earned her Bachelor’s of Art in Political Science and Speech from Coe College.

Dr. Amelia Mindthoff is a Research Scientist in the Office of Curricular Assessment and Teaching Support. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Florida International University and has worked at Iowa State University since 2020. Dr. Mindthoff employs appropriate methodological and statistical approaches to address questions pertinent to curricular improvement. Her interests include survey development, A/B testing, and a variety of statistical techniques (e.g., univariate and multivariate approaches; meta-analysis).
