Topic: Leverage the Science of Learning to Improve Motivation & Memory Performance

Presenter: Dr. Chris Meissner

Description:

In this talk, Dr. Meissner will describe effective approaches for improving motivation and memory performance in the academic context.  We will discuss both motivational strategies to promote engagement with course materials and mnemonic strategies to improve learning and (most importantly) long-term retention of information.  We will also discuss why these strategies are effective and how best to use them in the academic setting.

Topic: Antimicrobial Stewardship in the CVM Curriculum – Updates and Lessons Learned

Presenter: Dr. Kreuder

Description: In this month’s teaching development seminar, Dr. Amanda Kreuder will discuss the utilization of the CLSI document “VET09: Understanding Susceptibility Test Data as a Component of Antimicrobial Stewardship in Veterinary Settings” in the CVM curriculum. All clinical teaching faculty and house officers will soon be receiving free digital copies of the 2nd edition (recently published in February 2024).  Hard copies of VET09 will also be distributed to all VM4 rotation rounds rooms following this seminar, and examples of how to utilize this resource for teaching in the VM4 clinical curriculum will be provided.
